Hakeemul Ummah Hazrat Moulana Ashraf Ali Thaanwi Sahib رحمه الله has said that the Aarif has a lofty spiritual state (Haal). He is totally absorbed in the Divine Presence (of Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله). He has no hope or desire for benefit from anyone nor has he fear for anyone. If all the powers on earth unite against him, he will not bat an eyelid. He remains totally unconcerned. On the other hand, we have these ‘fraudulent sufis’ who will shiver and panic if even a junior constable comes to interrogate them.
