Hazrat Abdullah ibn Mubaarak رحمه الله said that good character means that one should always have a pleasant and cheerful countenance, carry out positive, uplifting actions, and refrain from harming people. (Jāmi’ut Tirmizi, Vol 2, Page 21)
In his commentary of Ihyā, Allamah Zabīdī رحمه الله states that good character means that one should always interact with people with a cheerful countenance, deal with people in a gentle manner, and attempt to uplift the spirits of people, taking their temperament and disposition into consideration.
