Hazrat Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه narrates that Sayyiduna Rasoolullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said; “That person’s Īmān is most perfect, whose conduct is most righteous, and who treats his wife the best.” (Tirmizi, Vol 1, Page 219)
Note: The Shariah has laid great emphasis on kind and compassionate treatment towards one’s wife, and many husbands err in this regard. They abuse their wives verbally, emotionally and psychologically, and show no tolerance to their petty mistakes. This is very unbecoming of a Muslim.
Some people are cruel and harsh to their families, yet they are known in social circles as being decent and pleasant. Such behaviour is grossly repugnant.
Hazrat Anas رضي الله عنه narrates that Sayyiduna Rasoolullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said to Sayyidah Ummu Habībah رضي الله عنها; “O Ummu Habībah, those who have good character have achieved the best of this world and the next.” (Targhīb, Vol 3, Page 410 – Tabrānī / Bazzār)
