عن قتادة مرسلا قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من الجفاء ان اذكر عند رجل فلا يصلى علي صلى الله عليه وسلم
Hazrat Qatadah رضي الله عنه reports that Sayyiduna Rasoolullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said; “It is indeed an act of injustice that my name be mentioned in the presence of a man and he does not recite salaat on me.”
What doubt can there be about such a person’s injustice when in spite of all the numerous favours of Sayyiduna Rasoolullah صلى الله عليه وسلم, a man fails to recite salaat on him? In the book ‘Tazkiratur Rasheed’, which is a biography of Hazrat Moulana Rasheed Ahmad Gangohi رحمه الله, we read that Hazrat Gangohi رحمه الله used to advise his disciples to recite salaat alan Nabī صلى الله عليه وسلم as much as possible and at least three hundred times daily. If this was not possible, then a bare minimum of one hundred times daily. He used to say; “The favours bestowed on this Ummah by Sayyiduna Rasoolullah صلى الله عليه وسلم are too numerous to count. If one fails to recite salaat alan Nabī صلى الله عليه وسلم, then it is indeed disloyalty to Sayyiduna Rasoolullah صلى الله عليه وسلم.” Hazrat Gangohi رحمه الله used to prefer those forms of salaat alan Nabī صلى الله عليه وسلم that are normally recited during Salaah and thereafter mentioned in the Hadīth. Those forms compiled by others were not liked by him.
The Hadīth above, according to Allamah Sakhaawi رحمه الله, means to break from ones near of kin, hard-heartedness and also indicates estrangement from Sayyiduna Rasoolullah صلى الله عليه وسلم.
