Ikhlaas And Ibaadah (Sincerity And Worship)

Hakeemul Ummah Hazrat Moulana Ashraf Ali Thaanwi Sahib رحمه الله has said that reward for ibaadah is not reliant on experiencing pleasure. It rests on amal (actions) and ikhlaas (sincerity). A pious servant of Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله used to make duaa; “O Allah! Bestow to me Tafweedh, and I seek refuge with You from the pleasure of Tafweedh.” He did not tolerate even the slightest nafsaani contamination in his niyyah (intention). Subhānallah! This is indeed a lofty degree of ikhlaas.

(Tafweedh means to assign one’s affairs unto Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله. The focus is only on Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله. Regardless of the end result, the matter is handed over to Allah Ta‘ala جل جلاله and accepted with contentment.)
