Hazrat Abu Dardaa رضي الله عنه reports that Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “Recite Durood abundantly upon me on Friday, for verily this is a blessed day when the angels are present; and when anyone recites Durood upon me, it reaches me as soon as he utters it.” Hazrat Abu Dardaa رضي الله عنه asked, “And what about after your death?” Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم replied, “Indeed Allah Ta’ala has prohibited the earth from consuming the bodies of the Ambiyaa.”

Most Powerful Engine
Shaikh Aabid Mia Naqshbandi رحمه الله mentions that in these times we relate well to the example of a goods train. A single engine carriage can easily transport containers loaded with goods from one place to another. However, a single engine is not sufficient when the train has to move uphill or on a steep incline. A few engines have to be joined to the carriage. When the condition for achieving escalation and heights of this world is that a few extra engines have to be added to the train, then imagine what powerful engines will be required to achieve the escalation of our good deeds which ascend from the earth to beyond the Arsh. The powerful engine is none other than Durood Shareef -the special and complete mercy of Allah Ta’ala.
(Adapted from Barkaat durood Shareef pg.442)
The Durood Shareef that we recite is a powerful means of attaining heights in this world and the next. It is the fuel that will power us to ascend every steep incline in life. It will be the fuel that will power our deeds through the earth and beyond the heavens.
O My Allah, send garlands of Durood and Salaam for ever and ever
Upon your beloved صلى الله عليه وسلم who is the best of Your creation
For it is that very beloved صلى الله عليه وسلم whose intercession we all long for.
Honouring the Day of Friday
Moulana Dawood Sahib حفظه الله mentioned in a discourse regarding a person from Johannesburg who was excessive in Durood Shareef recitation.
“There were so many signs that this person knew from before regarding his death. He had informed his family members that he will be coming home on Friday, but only for an hour. And that he will be coming in white (kafan). Before getting sick he cleared out his cupboards, saying I have no need for this now. And there were many other signs and details which he had mentioned to his family members beforehand which were indications to him passing away.
Nobody knows when they will pass away, but when I heard this entire incident then the virtue recorded by Hazrat Shaikhul Hadith, Moulana Muhammad Zakariyya رحمه الله in Fazail Durood came to mind. That a person who recites 1000 Durood every Friday, Allah Ta’ala will show him his place in Jannah before he passes away.
This quality of reciting abundant Durood on Friday was an outstanding feature in this person’s life. From Maghrib on a Thursday night he would busy himself in Durood Shareef recitation. He would value this time so much that if visitors came on a Thursday night, he would get restless to get back to Durood Shareef recitation. He used to just go into his garden and spend with his tasbeeh in his hand reading Durood Shareef.
Once, upon seeing that it’s so late and he hasn’t got to bed as yet, his respected wife asked him, “when will you finish reading?” He said (when it comes to Durood Shareef) “There is no such thing as finishing, you cannot finish reading”
By Friday morning his Durood would have reached 15000 or 16000. And his goal was to reach 20000 by Jumuah every Friday. His habit was 5000 Durood Shareef daily and 20000 on a Friday.
When he honoured the day so much, Allah Ta’ala alone knows what he showed him or never show him. I am just saying, that keeping the virtue which Hazrat Shaikh Moulana Muhammad Zakariyya رحمه الله recorded in Fazail Durood for 1000 Durood Shareef in mind. What about a person who was reading 20000 every Friday.”
May Allah Ta’ala bless us also with such a burning desire to read abundant Durood Shareef. Ameen
“O Sustainer, shower Salaat and Salaam forever and ever upon Your beloved, who is the best of all creation.”
May Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله reward our Nabi Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم on our behalf such a reward that is due to Him.
