Upon reflection, the blessed month of Ramadaan made us forge a close connection with Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله and we were able to involve ourselves in acts of obedience and devotion. The challenge after Ramadaan is that we sustain the momentum of piety and adopt courage in confronting sins.
Is it not foolish that after we have conditioned our lives towards Taqwa in Ramadaan; we succumb to the temptations of Shaitān and Nafs and oppose Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله ? It is imperative that we choose submission to Allah Ta’ala going forward.
And unfortunately, if we have not attained the bounty of Taqwa in this blessed month, it gives testimony to our lack of resolve and courage. Intelligence demands that we do not befriend enemies. If we choose disobedience, this is indicative of us being intoxicated by sin. Have we considered whose door we have left when we succumb to the temptations of sins?
Therefore, we cannot afford to forget the sheer kindness and mercy of Allah Ta’ala, Devotion to Him is not optional but rather a compulsion throughout our lives. The month of Ramadaan served as a platform of reformation. Our duty is to sustain the momentum.
When a person wears clean clothing, does he desire to become dirty? When Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله has cleansed us of sins; will it not be considered disloyal to disobey Him?
May Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله grant us istiqaamat (steadfastness) in all aspects of life.
Ameen
