The Unique Perspective Shared by Hazrat Hakeemul Ummah
Hakeemul Ummah Hazrat Moulana Ashraf Ali Thaanwi Sahib رحمه الله has said that the companionship of the Ahlullah is the real basis of reformation; this surpasses even knowledge. Hazrat Shaikh Abdul Mannan Sahib حفظه الله has stressed that the company of the Ahlullah is the actual Madrasah. Hazrat Thaanwi رحمه الله has advised that parents who have children studying in secular schools should send them to Islamic scholars and reformers (those involved in Tazkiyah) so that they can benefit.
Another unique point shared by Hazrat Hakeemul Ummah رحمه الله is that he has given an assurance that the scholars would not object on the modern dressing of the children nor would they beat them if they did not offer their Salah. All that is required is that the children become familiar with the Ahlullāh and Deen. Most of the Sahaba رضي الله عنه were not scholars but they attained the maximum benefit through the blessed companionship of Sayyiduna Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم. Similarly, the path of reformation is achieved in every era through the companionship of the Ahlullah .

The True Perspective of Aafiyah
The lessons derived from the Ahlullah are indeed unique and full of wisdom. Once Hazrat Haatim Asamm رحمه الله said to Hazrat Haamid Lifaaf رحمه الله, “How are you?” He replied; “I am with salaamat (peace) and aafiyah (safety).” Hazrat Haatim Asamm رحمه الله responded; “Salaamat and aafiyah are only after having crossed the Siraat (the bridge on the day of Qiyamah) and having entered into Jannah.”
On another occasion someone asked Hazrat Haatim Asamm رحمه الله, “What do you desire?” He replied; “… that I be with aafiyah (safety) from morning till evening.” The person said; “All your days pass whilst you are with aafiyah.” Hazrat Haatim Asamm رحمه الله responded; “The day that I am not sinning and disobedient, only then will I be with aafiyah (safety).”
The potent message is that no one should feel snug in his imagined ‘sinlessness’ and in his own piety.

A Deception from Shaitan
One trick of Shaitan is to allow a person to perform a certain number of good deeds with continuity, so that he feels he is very religious, while keeping him neglectful of many other commands of the Shariah.

What is Preventing our Youth from the Masaajid?
Hazrat Moulana Abdullah Kapaudrī Sahib رحمه الله has observed that one of the reasons why our youth are disinclined to the Musjid is that the committee members are obstinate and never consider the aspirations of the youth. Furthermore, the youth also come for Salaah but no one consults with them as to their needs.
Another setback in our interaction with the youth is the failure of the Ulama to respond appropriately to their questions posed according to their temperament. At times, the Ulama become angry at the ‘rebellious mindset’ of the youth. This is incorrect; the need is that the Ulama must listen carefully as to what they are trying to say and understand their perspective. If the Ulama cannot provide a suitable answer; the youth must be told that they (the Ulama) will reflect on the issue and respond the following day. Hazrat Moulana Abdullah Kapaudri Sahib رحمه الله has said that what is so difficult in acknowledging that the question is not understood and that an answer will be furnished later? The sad part is that the youth are scolded when they pose questions; this has resulted in them being made to feel neglected. An all out effort has to be made to identify with their questions and respond to their queries effectively.

The Well-Being of this Ummah
Hazrat Umar رضي الله عنه said; “The well-being of this Ummah lies solely in softness without being weak, and firmness without severity.”

How Much Salawaat Should One Recite
Hazrat Ubayy bin Ka’ab رضي الله عنه reports that, “I asked, ‘O Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) I would like to recite much salaat upon you, how much of the time that I have set aside for dua shall I use for it?’ Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم replied, ‘As much as you wish.’ I said, ‘Then I shall use one quarter thereof.’ (in Salawaat) Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, ‘It is as you wish, and if you increase beyond that it shall be better for you.’ I said, ‘In that case I shall make it half of the time.’ Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, ‘It is as you wish and if you increase beyond that it shall be even better for you.’ I said, ‘I shall make it (the recitation of Salawaat) two thirds of the time.’ Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم replied, ‘It is as you wish, and if you increase beyond that it shall be even better for you.’ I said, ‘O Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم I make the intention now that I shall set aside all the time of dua for salaat upon you.’ Rasulullah replied, ‘In that case all your worries shall be removed and your sins forgiven.'” (Sunan Tirmizi #2457)
Shaikhul Hadith Hazrat Moulana Muhammad Zakariyya Sahib رحمه الله has stated that the meaning of this Hadith is quite clear; the Sahabi رضي الله عنه had set aside a certain amount of time for duaa, and also decided to recite much salaat on Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم. Now he wanted to know how much of this time should be utilised for Salawaat. Furthermore, Alla mah Sakhaawi رحمه الله mentions a Hadith reported by Imam Ahmad رحمه الله where a man asked, “O Rasulullah (صلى الله عليه وسلم) , how will it be if I devote all my time for the recitation of salaat on you?”
Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم replied, “In that case Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله shall alleviate all your worries, in this world and in the Aakhirah.”
The author continues, “Because of the fact that salaat consists of Zikrullah as well as honour and respect for Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم it is mentioned in another Hadith, ‘Whoever is prevented from begging of Me in dua by the fact that he keeps busy in Zikrullah, for him shall I grant more than I grant those who are busy in dua.'” The reason for this is explained in Mazaahire Haq by Shaikh Abdul Haq رحمه الله, “This is because when a person devotes himself to that which Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله approves of and puts Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله pleasure ahead of his own needs and requirements, then Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله becomes the One who provides for all his needs (which he would have liked to ask for).”

Point of Reflection
Can we keep ourselves independent of the potency of Salawaat when the exhortation is from Sayyiduna Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم and the act loved by Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله ?
May Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله through the blessings of Salawaat grant us all the shafā’ah of Sayyiduna Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم on the day of Qiyamah.

The Level of Success
If anyone thinks that success can be achieved without submitting to Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله and emulating the noble example of Sayyiduna Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم , he is in grave error. Any land that is not illuminated by the shining light of true Islamic guidance is a land deprived of goodness. Any heart devoid of Ma’rifah (recognition of Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله ) is a barren heart.
It is vital that we reflect on the levels of success that Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله granted Sayyiduna Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم. Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله blessed him with victory over the two major superpowers of that time; the Romans and the Persians. Let us understand that Sayyiduna Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم did not have at his disposal tanks or missiles. In fact, he did not even have a huge army as the superpowers. SubhanAllah, he had in his possession nothing more than his garments upon his arrival in Madinah Munawwarah. However, he preached to the people and led by example. This impacted upon the hearts of the Sahaba رضي الله عنه and they too were guided. Sayyiduna Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم led his companions in battle against the tyrannical rulers and after a few years, they were dethroned. We thus need to ask; what was the reason for the downfall of the superpowers? Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله gives us the simple explanation in the Holy Qur’an:
‘So the people that committed wrong were eliminated. And praise to Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله , the Lord of the worlds.’
(Surah al-An’ām: 45)
‘And say; Truth has come and falsehood has departed. Indeed falsehood (by nature) is bound to depart.’
(Surah al-Isra: 81)
Reflections
We need to reflect upon our choices in life; are they in conformity with the Shariah or are we rebelling against Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله ?
Sayyiduna Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم was granted victory over the tyrants due to his commitment to Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله ; have we identified with that commitment? Are our actions earning the mercy or the displeasure of Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله ?
The tyrannical superpowers will certainly be removed by Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله but the warnings in the Kalaamullah are directed against the sinful ones; they were humiliated because of their disobedience. Have we not invited disgrace upon ourselves because of our obstinacy in sins? Most certainly any heart that refuses to see the light of the guidance of Islam is a deprived heart.
It is a humble plea to the Ummah; let us attune ourselves to the temperament of Sayyiduna Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم emulate his blessed example and attain the help of Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله . May Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله guide us and allow others to be guided by us.
آمين يارب العالمين
