General Adaab
- When a person makes intention to go for Hajj then he should recite 500 Durood every night after Esha in the state of wudhu facing the Qiblah.
Hazrat Mufti Mufti Kifaayatullah Sahib رحمه الله mentioned that he was regular in his correspondence with Hazrat Sheikh رحمه الله. One night he had a dream and wrote to Hazrat Sheikh رحمه الله. Hazrat Sheikh رحمه الله interpreted the dream that he will go for Hajj. Hazrat Mufti Sahib رحمه الله wrote back to Hazrat Sheikh رحمه الله that he is so poor that he cannot even afford to go beyond his locality; how will it be possible for him to undertake the journey for Hajj?
Hazrat Sheikh رحمه الله responded; “Who said that money takes you for Hajj? You should recite 500 times Durood Shareef on the Musallah in the state of Wudhu prior to sleeping. Through the mercy of Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله, you will soon go for Hajj.”
Hazrat Mufti Sahib رحمه الله immediately started reciting the 500 Durood Shareef every night after Esha Salaah. Through the barakah of Durood Shareef, Hazrat Mufti Sahib رحمه الله went for Hajj the very same year! He added that Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله had blessed him with excessive visits to Haramain Shareefain.
Such is the potency of Durood Shareef that there was a friend who was accredited for Hajj. He informed this servant that although he was accredited, he did not have the funds. We advised him to recite 500 Durood Shareef every night before retiring. Amazingly, Allah Ta‘ala جل جلاله inspired others to assist the brother and he went for Hajj the very same year!

- Go For Hajj with total conviction that Allah Ta’ala will take care of your possessions, children, business etc.
- Read 2 Rakats Salaatus Safr before you leave home. This is your safety insurance.
- Don’t forget to recite the Masnoon Duas for travelling.
- The Duas of a traveller are never rejected
- During the flight, find a place where you may perform Salah with Jamat without inconveniencing others. However, if the circumstances are such that it is not possible for you to perform Salah standing, perform the Salah at your seat, and on disembarking the Salah will have to be repeated.
- Don’t lose sight of the fact that this is a journey of love.
- Go for Hajj and Umrah with the intention of reformation.
- Introspect and self-reflect throughout the journey
- Never ever be rude, even if others are uncouth to you. If anyone is rude to you, make intention of your Islah.

- Make a fresh wudhu for every salah.

- Try and be engaged in some form of ibaadah (Zikr, Tilawat, Durood Shareef) at all times instead of wasting time in sin and futility (youtube, television, cellphone etc.)
- Don’t worry about the crowds. Be happy that the Ummah is coming together. Marvel at the أخوّة (brotherhood).
- Huffaz should recite a minimum of two Paras per Salah and non Huffaz one Para per Salah. Our Masha’ikh رحمهم الله have advised that we go about fifteen minutes before the Azaan; in this way one can comfortably read ten paras daily. They have also advised that we set a yardstick of at least ten thousand Durood Shareef every day in Madinah Munawwarah.
- When going to the Haramain Shareefain for Salah, don’t talk. Keep your gaze down, and just continuously recite Durood Shareef/Zikr.
- Don’t make tea with Zam Zam and don’t boil it. It is disrespectful.
- Keep in touch with rightly guided Ulama for Masaail and guidelines.
- Hazrat Umar رضي الله عنه used to say while drinking Zam Zam, “O Allah, I drink this now with the intention of quenching the thirst of the day of Qiyaamah.” (Fazaail Hajj pg.157)
- A few informative books that one should keep referring to throughout the journey of Hajj:
“Rahnumai Hujjaj”
“Hajj The Fifth Pillar Of Islam”
“A Spiritual Guide to Hajj, Umrah and Ziyaarat”
- Keep your tongue moist with Zikrullah and Durood Shareef throughout the journey
- Exert yourself according to what you can manage. Rest well when needed.
