(The months of) Hajj are a few known months. So whoever considers the Hajj obligatory in them should not engage in any sexual relations nor commit any act of sin nor dispute during Hajj. Allah knows whatever good deed you do. Take your provisions along with you, but the best of provisions is Taqwa. So fear Me, O people of intelligence! (Surah Baqarah:197)
This servant wishes to share some important points with regards to the performance of Hajj which were learnt from my Shaikh, Shafeequl Ummah, Hazrat Moulana Muhammad Farooq Sahib حفظه الله of Sukkur, Pakistan:
- In the sight of Allah Ta’ala, that person who leaves his house for Hajj or Umrah is very virtuous. Allah Ta’ala has promised acceptance of his duas during this blessed journey. Thus, a person should value this and with special importance make dua for himself and all Muslims during his journey for Hajj and Umrah. It appears in a Hadīth that Rasulullah made this dua;
اَللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِلْحَاجِّ وَلِمَنِ اسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُ الْحَاجُّ
‘O Allah, forgive those who perform Hajj and those for whom they seek forgiveness, forgive them.'(Mustadrak Haakim#1612)
- Remember that you are the delegation of the Ummah; the Ummah has great hopes and aspirations that you will remember us in your duas. Whilst you certainly need to make dua for yourselves, make it a point to remember the Ummah in your duas.
Sayyiduna Rasulullah said:
الْحُجَّاجُ وَالْعُمَّارُ وَفْدُ اللهِ إِنْ دَعَوْهُ أَجَابَهُمْ وَإِنِ اسْتَغْفَرُوْهُ غَفَرَ لَهُمْ
“Those who perform Hajj and Umrah are special guests in the court of Allah Ta’ala. If they make dua to Him, He accepts and if they seek forgiveness from Him, He forgives them.” (Ibne Majah #2984)
Hazrat Abu Musa Ashari I has also narrated that Rasulullah said;
عن أبي موسى الأشعري رضي الله عنه ، رفعه إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم قال : الحاج يشفع في أربع مائة أهل بيت ، أو قال : من أهل بيته، ويخرج من ذنوبه كيوم ولدته أمه
“The intercession of a person who performs Hajj is accepted in favour of 400 households or Rasulullah H said, ‘His intercession is accepted in favour of 400 people of his household.””
