How are you?
I have just commenced Alim course at a Madrasah. I would like some advices to assist me in my journey of Deeni knowledge.

Alhamdulillah, I am well with the mercy of Allah Ta’ala. I am in desperate need of duaas. Please continue to make duaa for this servant.
May Allah Ta’ala grant you every success in your endeavours. Aameen.
- Your duty is to remain focused and always renew your niyyah.
- Be careful with regards your eyes, ears and speech.
- Obey the rules of the Madrassa and never interfere even if it goes against your temperament.
- Ensure that you are punctual with Salaah with Takbeere Oola.
- When you are given the opportunity to call home, ensure that you ask your parents to make duaa for you.
- Refrain from unnecessary speech but at the same time, always be polite with everyone, especially the Asaatiza.
- Look after your health and eat food that will assist you in studies. Stay away from take away foods.
- Let your clothing be always neat and presentable. Please utilize itr daily (not something strong). Why do I say this? Because whilst in Madrassa, you are going to be in close interaction with various people. You have to present yourself as refined.
- Adorn your life with the Sunnah. The Sunnah must become second nature.
- Let humility be the salient feature of your life.
- Never ever forget to make duaa for yourself and the Ummah. Please remember this servant in your duaas.
- Stay away from unnecessary association and futile speech.
- Stay away from beardless youth. This can become a calamity if one does not exercise care and caution.
- Stay away from movies, porn, interacting with girls – this is destructive to the extreme.
- Ensure that you follow the timetable. Ensure that you study as required and stay away from distractions. If you don’t understand, be humble and go to your Ustaadh and ask him to explain. According to Imām Shāfi’ee رحمه الله, the student that doesn’t ask is like a donkey.
