عن أنس بن مالك رضي الله عنه قال قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ويا بنيّ إن استطعت أن لا تزال تصلي فإن الملائكة تصلي عليك ما دمت تصلي (مجمع الزوائد الرقم 1470)
Hazrat Anas bin Malik رضي الله عنه narrates that Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “O my son! If you have the ability to constantly send salutations upon me then do so, the angels will beg Allah Ta’ala to forgive you as long as you send salutations.”
The Amazing Vritues of Durood Shareef
Hazrat Shaikhul Hadith Moulana Muhamad Zakariyya Kandhlawi رحمه الله writes,
The truth is that even if no virtues are mentioned at all, the favours that Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم has done to the Ummah can never be counted, let alone repaid. Therefore, if as many people as possible keep their tongues busy in Durood Shareef all the time, it will still fall far short of fulfilling the rights owed to Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم. Over and above all of this, Allah Ta’ala has, by his grace and mercy, promised thousands of rewards for the effort of trying to fulfil these rights.

40 Virtues of Durood Shareef
The goodness, virtues and blessings of Durood Shareef which appear in the Mubarak Ahadith can be summarized into the following concise points,
- Allah Ta’ala ordains wellbeing and blessings for the reciter.
- The Angels make dua of mercy for him.
- He obtains the pleasure of Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم.
- He receives dua of wellbeing, abundance and safety.
- The Durood becomes an atonement for his sins and errors.
- His deeds are purified.
- His sins are forgiven.
- His rank is raised.
- The reward of one Qeeraat is recorded in his book of deeds. One Qeeraat is equal to Mount Uhud.
- The person who makes all his duas Durood Shareef, Allah Ta’ala Himself suffices all his endeavours of this world and the hereafter.
- He escapes all dangers.
- Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم will be a witness and intercessor for him on the Day of Qiyamah.
- Durood Shareef is a means of the pleasure and mercy of Allah Ta’ala descending.
- It is a means of safety from the anger and wrath of Allah Ta’ala.
- It will earn one the shade of the Arsh of Allah Ta’ala on the day of Qiyamah.
- One will be protected from extreme thirst on that day.
- A means of deliverance from the fire of Jahannum.
- A person will easily, peacefully and safely cross the bridge of sirat.
- He will see his abode in Jannah before passing away.
- Durood Shareef is a substitute for sadaqah for the needy.
- It is a means of barakah in the wealth and progeny of the reciter.
- A routine recitation of it results in the fulfilment of a hundred needs.
- It is one of the most beloved actions to Allah Ta’ala.
- It is an adornment of gatherings.
- It eliminates economic distress.
- It is the means of seeking goodness from its source.
- The reciter of Durood will be the closest to Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم on the day of Qiyamah.
- Apart from the reciter, even his progeny is blessed with the barakah of Durood Shareef.
- It is a light.
- The enemy is overpowered with it.
- It cleanses the hearts of hypocrisy and rust.
- It is a means of creating love in the hearts of people.
- It earns one the ultimate blessing of seeing the leader of both the worlds, Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم in a dream.
- A reciter of Durood Shareef is saved from backbiting people.
- It is an extremely blessed and virtuous action.
- It is an act that brings the most benefit, both in this world and the hereafter.
- It is a method to attain happiness and endless bounties.
- It is a surefire investment.
- It has been and remains to be the morning and evening practice of all the pious people.
- Recitation of Durood Shareef (once) is compulsory for every Muslim as Allah Ta’ala has commanded it in the Quran.

The Treasures of the Aakhirah
In yet another place Hazrat Shaikhul Hadith Moulana Muhamad Zakariyya Kandhlawi رحمه الله writes beautifully,
Durood Shareef is an extremely blessed act. It is in fact, the best of all good deeds and the most beneficial of all deeds, which people of understanding are inclined towards. These will be the people who wish to amass the treasures of the Aakhirah and wish to take the most benefit from permissible actions.

يَا رَبِّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ دَائِمَاً أَبَدًا عَلَى حَبِيْبِكَ خَيْرِ الْخَلْقِ كُلِّهِمِ
“O Sustainer, shower Salaat and Salaam forever and ever upon Your beloved, who is the best of all creation.”
جَزَی اللہُ عَنَّا نَبِيَّنَا مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْه وسَلَّمَ بِمَا هُوَ أَھْلُهُ
May Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله reward our Nabi Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم on our behalf such a reward that is due to Him.
